Chicago in 2012, a bid for the 70th World Science Fiction Convention.

August 30th September 3rd, 2012

Sweet Home Chicago...

Welcome to the home of the bid to bring the 70th World Science Fiction Convention to Chicago, Illinois in 2012. Our city has a long and wonderful history with the Worldcon and with your help we hope to add an exciting new chapter. Over the next two years we look forward to meeting with fans from all over the world, bending their ears on our plans and hopefully leaving them saying "Baby, don't you want to go?"

As you may or may not know, Chicago was home to many publishers of classic pulp science fiction magazines. We plan to celebrate that tradition and honor it in many ways—some obvious, some a little more tongue-in-cheek. Primary among these efforts will be the production of nine pulp magazines over the course of the bid. They will feature new work by names you know and love. The current issue will come for free with your donation of at least $20, and donors will be able to purchase other issues for $0.50 each.

The point of all this, when you get down to the essentials of it, is fun. We're going to visit conventions around the country to meet folks and have a good time; we'd like for you to join us while we do. If there's anything we can do to ENHANCE your fun, stop by our forums and let us know. We look forward to seeing you at a bid table or room party. Stop by, take a load off, shoot the breeze and make some new friends!

Thanks, and we'll see you on the campaign trail!
